Another school shooting. Another community shattered. Another group of parents who sent their children to school and never got to hold them again. We cannot become numb to this. We must pray and we must act. Every parent in America knows the fear. The moment your phone buzzes with a news alert and your heart stops until you confirm your child is safe. The conversations we have with our kids about lockdown drills — conversations no parent should ever have to have. The children are not alright. They practice hiding under desks. They learn to barricade doors. They say goodbye to their parents in the morning wondering if it might be the last time. This is not normal, and we must never accept it as normal. We are not praying for one side of a political debate. We are praying for our children. We are praying for solutions that protect the most innocent among us. We are praying for the courage to have difficult conversations and the wisdom to find common ground. We ask for prayers for every child who walks into a school with fear, for every teacher who stands ready to shield their students with their own body, for every parent who holds their breath until the final bell rings, and for our nation to find the will to protect its youngest citizens.
