Confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo have reached 2,011, including 754 deaths, in what health authorities call the fastest-growing outbreak on record. Caused by the rare Bundibugyo virus and centred on Ituri province, the epidemic has spread faster than teams can trace it, with more than 100 healthcare workers already infected. For families in Bunia, Rwampara and surrounding communities, the toll is measured in empty homes. Many of the newly reported dead never reached a clinic. Exhausted nurses and doctors, some unpaid since May, have walked off the job even as fear and displacement drive the sickness deeper into the region. We pray for the sick and the grieving of Congo, for the frightened families waiting for news, and for the health workers, aid teams and WHO responders labouring against fatigue and funding gaps. May care, courage and healing reach every village in need.
