On Sunday afternoon, drones struck a civil court session held under a tree in Ghara al-Zawiya, a village in Sudan's North Darfur. Local elders and community leaders were taking part. At least 35 people were killed and dozens injured, according to Emergency Lawyers, a Sudanese rights group that called the attack a grave violation of humanitarian law. Sudan's civil war is now in its fourth year. At least 59,000 people have been killed and millions driven from their homes; the United Nations says drone strikes caused 80% of civilian deaths in early 2026.
