Overnight into Sunday, Russia launched one of the largest ballistic missile attacks of its four-year war on Ukraine, firing more than 40 missiles and 120 drones, most of them at the capital, Kyiv. Strikes set fires in five districts of the city, and across the country at least 16 civilians were killed and 77 injured within 24 hours, including three postal workers near Kharkiv. For families who spend night after night sheltering in corridors and basements, the bombardment has become almost daily, while Ukraine's defenders run short of the interceptors needed to stop the missiles. We pray for the wounded and the bereaved, for the firefighters and rescuers pulling neighbours from burning buildings, and for all leaders and negotiators who hold the power to silence the missiles — that peace may yet come to Ukraine.
