As Russia's air war intensifies over Ukraine, millions of Ukrainian children have begun their fifth school year of the war — many of them underground. Waves of missiles and drones strike Kyiv and cities across the country, and first lessons are held in bomb shelters as the air-raid sirens sound. It is Ukraine's youngest who carry the weight of this war — learning, singing and sheltering beneath the sirens. We pray for the families who mourn, for the children in the shelters, and for the firefighters, rescuers and peacemakers who labour on. May those in power be inspired by their higher selves, and may quiet skies return over every schoolyard.
