Four days after a glacial collapse sent a wall of water down the Trishuli and Bhote Koshi rivers on the Nepal-Tibet border, 804 people are confirmed dead and more than 3,000 remain missing. Among the missing are over 900 hydropower workers. At the Trishuli 3A plant, rescuers have bored a hole to pump air to more than 100 workers believed trapped in a flooded tunnel, and excavation to reach them has begun. UNICEF warns that 17,000 children are in urgent need of assistance, while fresh rain and a newly formed lake threaten further flooding. We pray for the trapped workers and the missing, and for the soldiers, engineers and relief teams digging through the mud. May the tunnel be opened and every worker brought home.
