The war between the United States and Iran, now in its fifth month, has flared again. On Thursday both sides fired barrages of missiles after a brief truce collapsed. Jordan intercepted Iranian missiles for a second day, a strike killed one person in northern Kuwait, drones set ships ablaze at an Egyptian port, and tankers have been struck in the Strait of Hormuz. What began between two nations now touches many. Families across the Middle East sleep beneath uncertain skies, seafarers risk dangerous waters, and rising fuel prices press hardest upon the world's poor. We pray for all who live in fear of this widening war, and for the mediators of Oman and Pakistan and every leader with the power to choose peace — that talks may replace missiles, and lasting calm return to the region.
