The sixty-day window for a peace agreement between the United States and Iran has closed without a deal, and no new talks are scheduled. The Strait of Hormuz — the waterway carrying much of the world's oil — remains closed to normal shipping. In recent days missiles have struck vessels near the strait, two ballistic missiles were fired toward the United Arab Emirates, and oil residue has fouled the beaches of Qeshm Island. Millions of ordinary people across the Gulf — families, fishermen, and seafarers far from home — are living with fear and uncertainty as the conflict continues. We pray for all the peoples of the region, and for the negotiators of every nation seeking an honourable peace. May wisdom prevail, may the seas grow calm, and may a just settlement open the way to lasting peace.
