Torrential rain has battered South Korea's southern coast since Saturday. The cities of Geoje and Tongyeong received an entire summer's rainfall in barely two days — more than 900 millimetres — triggering a landslide that struck an apartment building in Geoje, killing one person and injuring four. Hundreds of residents have been evacuated, around 3,600 homes lost power, a dozen schools flooded, and the rain is still falling. When a lifetime record of rain falls in a weekend, whole communities are left shaken, their homes and livelihoods soaked through. We pray for the grieving family, for everyone in shelters tonight, and for the firefighters and rescuers wading through the flooded streets.
