About 6,000 people remain in Oleshky, a front-line city in the occupied south of Ukraine's Kherson region, among them 200 children. Residents told the BBC this week that the city is constantly shelled and cut off from food and clean water, and that some are eating weeds from their gardens. A husband and wife carrying a bag of food home from a neighbouring town twenty-three kilometres away were killed by a drone on 20 September; four separate sources confirmed their deaths. Before the full-scale invasion the city was home to 24,000 people. Those who are left are mostly the old, the ill and the families who had nowhere else to go. We pray for every person still in Oleshky, and for all who try to carry food and water to people cut off. May supplies reach them, may the shelling cease, and may they be remembered.
