The ferry Virgo Transport 8 capsized in severe weather in the Java Sea on Sunday while crossing from Surabaya on Java to Banjarmasin in Indonesian Borneo. Officials said 243 people were on board. At least six have died and about 129 remain unaccounted for; 108 people had been brought to safety by Sunday evening, according to the national search and rescue agency BASARNAS. Ships and a helicopter are searching the water. In Banjarmasin, families crowd the rescue command centre reading passenger lists for a name, while officials say it is still unknown whether those missing are inside the vessel or scattered across the sea. We pray for every person still in that water, for the survivors coming ashore in shock, and for the families holding on for news. We pray also for the search crews, the fishermen and the aircrews working against the light. May the lost be found.
