The United Nations has warned that a "supersized" El Nino is building in the Pacific - on track to be the strongest in more than seventy years, with sea temperatures running far above normal and forecasters all but certain it will persist into early 2027. The UN Secretary-General says the world has entered a "danger zone of extreme weather," with drought, flooding, stronger storms and fierce heat expected across many regions. This is a crisis still forming: governments are strengthening early-warning systems and pre-positioning aid, and what happens next is not yet written.
